National Intern Day 2026

Written by Rice Companies | Jul 30, 2026, 10:21:18 PM

From the Class Room to the Job Site

Construction management interns Eli Janes, Ryan Riedel, and Max Wehlage, all from NDSCS's Building Construction Technology and Construction Management Technology programs, have spent their summer on active job sites, arriving before 6:00 a.m. and putting in full days alongside experienced crews on large-scale commercial construction projects.

From the Drafting Table to the Design Team

For architectural interns Elana Hanson, Olivea Roth, and Greta Larson, the first weeks of a design-build internship meant learning quickly that a professional environment operates on an entirely different scale than anything a classroom can simulate. They assist with updating Revit models and construction drawings then get to track the progress all the way to permit, a full-cycle experience that few interns encounter.

What They Are Taking with Them

From shared live project models to coordinated field crews, every intern has named teamwork as the defining adjustment from school to professional practice and the work these interns are doing this summer matters to the projects they are on.

If you are considering a career in construction, these six interns offer a transparent, firsthand look at what that path can look like from the very start.
