# National Intern Day 2026 at Rice Companies

# BUILT THIS SUMMER

## A Look Inside the Rice Companies 2026 Internship Program

*July 30, 2026*

Every summer, students across the country trade classrooms for job sites, software tutorials for live project models, and theory for the kind of hands-on experience that shapes a career. At Rice Companies, that transition is not just supported, it is intentional.

This summer, six interns joined the Rice Companies team across two disciplines, [architectural drafting and design](https://ricecompanies.com/design-preconstruction) and [construction management](https://ricecompanies.com/construction), contributing to work that is being designed and built. With backgrounds from Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State), North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS), and North Dakota State University (NDSU), each brought a different skill set and set of expectations. What they found when they arrived has been consistent across the board: real projects, real responsibility, and a team that takes developing the next generation of construction professionals seriously.

This is their story, halfway through.

From the Class Room to the Job Site

[Construction management](https://www.ricecompanies.com/construction) interns **Eli Janes**, **Ryan Riedel**, and **Max Wehlage**, all from NDSCS's Building Construction Technology and Construction Management Technology programs, have spent their summer on active job sites, arriving before 6:00 a.m. and putting in full days alongside experienced crews on large-scale commercial construction projects.

From the Drafting Table to the Design Team

For architectural interns **Elana Hanson**, **Olivea Roth**, and **Greta Larson**, the first weeks of a [design-build internship](https://ricecompanies.com/careers) meant learning quickly that a professional environment operates on an entirely different scale than anything a classroom can simulate. They assist with updating Revit models and construction drawings then get to track the progress all the way to permit, a full-cycle experience that few interns encounter.
